The Dress

The dress is based on an Italian design, made by an excellent designer in Pretoria (Kobus O'Callaghan). He has been making dresses all his life and battled the strenous theatre industry in the prime of his dress-making career.

The bride, someone driven by "the different" in life, wanted something timeless and uncommon. Wanting to separate herself from the masses of brides that select sweetheart, strapless, mermaid style dresses, the bride wanted to make a statement...and she did more than that in this dress, not made for a princess, but for a queen.

The dress is very well reinforced with support on the upper body portions, as the sleeve is very slanted to provide an open and sophisticated neckline. The low dip in the front and back required the reinforcement to ensure the dress did not slip off during the special day.
The body of the dress is a "trumpet" line, but what makes the dress magical is the flowing layer separately, but attached to the body of the dress and reinforced with wire to create a "waves of the ocean" effect which remains visisble no matter the movement of the body in it.

The beading on the bodess is hand crafted on top of the imported, thick, white satin. The beads are a multitude of sizes and add to the strength of the dress to support the bride. The beading is very rich and yet eloquently subtle in that it adds dimension to the dress without tearing the eye away from the wholistic picture and only focusing on the beading.

Most importantly, the bride looked and felt like a queen... and this dress certainly will live on in time through the memories of everyone who had the pleasure of its company.
