The Dress

I was delighted with the flattering and slimming effect this dress had on my "fuller figure". It emphasized my waist and hid my stomach rolls beautifully (something which I had been concerned about). I felt very feminine and soft in it, and at the same time, secure - like everything was being held in place!

The dress is made from heavy weight, rich oyster Duchess satin (almost matte).It has delicate, subtle, champagne-coloured, embroidered and beaded motifs on the neckline, at the waist and around the hem, as well as on the train. I am one for plain and simple, but this subtle motif added a unique, classic touch. It also directs the eye in ways that have a slimming effect.

The dress was originally a size 18 (UK/SA) with a zip at the back, but I had it altered to fit a size 20 (UK/SA) by removing the zip and having an 8.5cm panel and lace-up detail inserted by a professional seamstress. If preferred, this panel can be removed and a zip reinserted. In fact, the 2-piece style (lace-up bodice and skirt) allows for it to be altered and adjusted fairly easily to fit any shape within the size 18 to 22 range.

Worn once only. This dress is very special to me ... I hope that someone else can get the same joy from it as I did.
